Tech Tip: Twitter Widgets

Now that I reconfigured my blog to have two sidebars (yes, I love widgets that much; I wanted two sidebars to make room for them all ), I decided to add Twitter widgets for both of my accounts, @OnlineCrsLady (which is more teaching-related; I guess you could call it my personal Twitter account), and then @OnlineMythIndia (which I use to find and share materials with both classes).

Twitter totally revamped its widget system last year, making it even easier to do this. You just go to publish.twitter.com, and then paste in the URL of the Twitter source you want to use, which is either someone's account address or the address of a Twitter list, or even an individual tweet. Then Twitter gives you your options for that source; in the case of an account, you can click on timeline to get a widget with actual tweets in it.

Then you can configure it; I chose 500 pixels for the height.

When you click update, Twitter regenerates the code; click the Copy Code button. That's all you need! Create an HTML/Javascript gadget box at your blog, paste in the code, and you're done!
